Free Creative Weekends for Families

This eight-week family programme followed a simple and effective rhythm: a child and adult first explored a work in the gallery, then made something of their own in a practical session. The museum object became the beginning of play and conversation.

Activities included a foil relief inspired by Food for Thought, a commemorative coin, a travel journal, a map of memories, a character costume, beaded jewellery and a clay bowl. Changing materials allowed children to become artists, designers and storytellers in turn.

The Saturday programme ended in August 2026. Its structure nevertheless captures the museum’s approach to families: children are invited not simply to listen, but to observe, choose and arrive at their own ideas through making.
